How a Teen Patti Master hand works
Teen Patti is a three-card game for up to six players at a table. Everyone puts in the boot, a fixed starting stake, and gets three cards face down. Players then take turns to bet or pack (fold) until either one player is left or two players remain and one asks for a show. The best three-card hand at the show wins the pot.
Teen Patti Master runs this classic version as its main game, with other card and casual games in the same lobby. The rules below are the standard ones its tables use; variants such as Joker or Muflis change the rankings and are labelled separately in the app.
Hand rankings, from strongest to weakest
Six hand types exist. A higher type always beats a lower one. Within the same type, the higher cards win, and Ace counts high.
| Hand | Example | Chance of being dealt |
|---|---|---|
| Trail (three of a kind) | A A A | 0.24% |
| Pure sequence (straight flush) | Q K A, all hearts | 0.22% |
| Sequence (straight) | 4 5 6, mixed suits | 3.26% |
| Colour (flush) | 2 7 J, all spades | 4.96% |
| Pair | 9 9 K | 16.94% |
| High card | A J 4, mixed | 74.39% |
What the odds mean at the table
Three hands in four are high-card hands, and a pair or better turns up only about one hand in four. That is why most pots are won by a pair or a high Ace. A trail is ranked above a pure sequence even though the pure sequence is slightly rarer; that is a quirk of the traditional rules, and every Teen Patti app follows it.
A useful habit: with a high card below a King, you are usually behind anyone who keeps betting as seen. Packing early costs you only the boot.
Blind and seen play
You can play blind, without looking at your cards, or seen, after looking. A blind player bets the current stake. A seen player must bet at least double the blind stake. Blind play is cheaper and puts pressure on others, but you are betting without information, so most players look after a round or two.
Once you have seen your cards you cannot go back to blind for that hand.
Side show and show
A seen player can ask the seen player before them for a side show, a private comparison of both hands. The other player can accept or refuse. If they accept, the weaker hand must pack. When only two players are left, either can pay for a show and both hands are revealed; the higher hand takes the pot, and if hands tie, the player who did not ask for the show wins.
Common beginner mistakes
New players lose most of their chips in two ways. They play seen too early with weak cards, paying double the stake for every round of information, and they call a show with a hand that only beats high cards. A pair of 2s wins less often than it feels like it should, because anyone still betting seen after several rounds usually has a pair or better.
Watch how long the others stay in. A player who keeps raising as seen is telling you something about their hand, and packing a high-card hand at that point is usually the cheaper choice. The boot is the only cost of folding early.
